Ethan's Mission to Nicaragua

Thanks for thinking about me . I know that I have a lot of people behind me here in Nicaragua even though most of the time its just Elder Lopez walking slow. But really thank you. So this week they celebrate Halloween too, but I'm sure its with a little less candy and more "fireworks". We have a couple of service projects lined up so we'll see how that goes, and hopefully we'll have another baptism here in the near future ... we'll see . So Saturday we finally baptiz...

  Well Hi There! Good afternoon, evening, or morning depending on when you get a chance to read this! I always wanted to write down some of the random things about my mission but I never had time , so I wrote this first. Here are a few of my observations over the course of the last months here: 1. Aparantly the news here announced that all Americans will receive a chip in their wrist with the number 666 engraven on it... don't know what that's about. .. 2. Chocolate really doesn't exist here 3. They eat ketchup with everything, but it's really sweet and tastes more like BBQ sauce 4. They idolize and worship all things from the United States including but not limited to "Nyk" (Nike) , Snickers, and all music popular or not 5 . Snickers are now my favorite thing, mostly because they're the only thing I can find here and they're chocolate (but you don't have to send me any, I do just fine here) 6. Nica's love Tang. We had to wait for a couple of weeks because of the last time he drank, but he's well on his way to being a baptized member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. Sounds like things are busy at home and I hope everything is going well for everyone. I pray for you all every day (which I think counts for double because I'm a missionary). Conference really was amazing for me yesterday and Saturday. We had the opportunity to attend both days if we were able to bring an investigator, so I was able to watch all of the sessions (in spanish of coarse). Its not quite the same in Spanish as English, but some of the apostles translated their own talks which was kind of neat, after all I am called to speak Spanish for the next two years. I had another great week and it was fun to hear about all of yours. We're walking a lot and sweating even more, so I really like the rain here because it cools things off a little. So I'm writing to you from a hot little room with about 10 minutes to finish up because I couldn't log onto my account for some reason, but here I am. We had an earthquake here the other day and a volcano erupted a little ways away also, but it was in the other mission. Everything's just fine and nothing is in the least bit different for anyone here. The food here isn't that great , I eat rice and platano (kind of like banana) every meal (which means lunch because that's the only meal that we really eat) and everything here is fried. Thank you for sending photos to the mission office, we're having a zone conference here tomorrow and they're for a slideshow . (hopefully you sent the really embarrassing ones).
